Oddbins to expand own label range

High street retailer Oddbins is set to expand its own label range this summer following the successful launch of its own red and white wines last year. The two references have so far sold over 750,000 bottles and the company is now adding six new “classics” to the collection.

The company’s own label offer is presented under the strapline “if we didn’t love it we wouldn’t put our name on it”. Retailing at £3.99, the two wines’ bold, unfussy presentation has clearly resonated with consumers.

According to Oddbins sales director Andy Gadsby, the company is in the process of sourcing six additions to the range based on classic regions. The expanded collection will encompass Chablis, Sancerre, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Pouilly-Fumé. Dependent upon the success of the new stage of the programme Gadsby explains that the range may ultimately be expanded further still to include own-label Pinot Grigo, Chianti and Rioja wines.
