Zachys lines up five single owner sales worth US$25m

US fine wine auctioneer Zachys will host five single-owner sales this autumn with a combined value of over US$25 million.

The auctioneer had an extremely successful spring season, racking up $68m in sales and these five single-owner collections are in addition to other auctions the company will host this autumn.

The first collection will go on sale in Hong Kong on 6 September featuring large format Bordeaux and Burgundy.

The second sale in New York on 19 September includes parcels of Burgundy and Rhône as well as a selection of mature Barolo from the 1960s and 70s, including a 1937 Aldo Conterno Barolo Riserva and 1937 Monfortino.

On 2 October in New York is the follow-up sale to one held in June that was 100% sold. The sale of the second half of the collection features mature Burgundy including a “killer retrospective” of white Burgundy from 1986-2005.

The fourth sale features top Burgundy from the collection of Ian Mill QC, a British collector with a renowned wine cellar will be held on 26 October in New York and the final single owner collection will be offered in 7 December includes more rare claret and Burgundy and every bottle in addition to being authenticated by Zachys will be examined, chipped and logged in a block chain by Chai Vault.

Zachys president Jeff Zacharia, said: “It is the single-owners that have propelled us to number one this year, and it’s the single-owners that will carry us over the finish line that way.

“We have set well over 1,000 world records so far in 2019, and we see no signs of the pace slowing as we head into the fall season.”
