Santa Rita Masterclass – Carmenère up close

Join Viña Santa Rita’s head winemaker Sebastián Labbé and db’s Patrick Schmitt MW for a comprehensive tasting of Carmenère – Chile’s emblematic red grape.

Featuring historic and current vintages of Carmenère from one of Chile’s oldest wineries, Viña Santa Rita, the event will consider the grape’s past and present, while looking closely at how to get the best from Carmenère in the vineyard and cellar, as well as assessing its role as a varietal wine and in blends.

With library stock from Santa Rita’s cellars, the tasting will reveal the characters of mature Carmenère, while critically assessing the style of wines it’s yielded throughout its modern history in Chile.

Included in the tasting will be Chile’s celebrated top-end Carmenère, Santa Rita Pewén, which was a Gold medallist in this year’s IWC.

So, to find out everything you need to know about Carmenère, join Sebastián Labbé and Patrick Schmitt MW for this live tasting at the Army and Navy Club at 3pm on Monday 28 June 2021.

The event will be held in line with Covid-19 Government guidelines, with limited attendee numbers and appropriate social distancing in place.
