Tasting notes:
Orlando was the name of the vineyard established in1874 at Rowland Flat in the Barossa by the Gramp family and was given to Gustav Gramp from his father as a wedding present when he married Johanna Koch. Orlando has been producing fine quality, award-winning Australian wines ever since. One of Orlando’s ‘Heroes’ is this stunningly good Grenache. Pale ruby in hue, the wine has juicy, ripe red cherry fruit and a touch of delicate dried mint. Appealing, the palate is medium-bodied and flavourful with hints of spice rather than overt oak and lively acidity and noticeable velvet- textured tannins in support. Really attractive, the wine is a good match for barbecued chicken legs with a mixed herb ‘rub’. [Patricia Stefanowicz MW]
