Tasting notes:
Langmeil Winery was once a derelict winery in the middle of an abandoned 19th-century village, yet today is a thriving reminder of Australia’s pioneer history and vinous heritage. This wine comes from the Lyndoch property bought in 1998 and named after its previous owner, Arthur Jackaman. Deep purple-ruby in hue, the wine shows crunchy blackcurrant fruit with cedar wood and floral overtones. Dry, the palate flavours are well integrated and supported by crisp acidity and linen textured tannins. Elegant and refined, the wine will be a good pairing for roast pigeon with black truffle sauce on a bed of sautéed chard. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
