Berkmann Wine Cellars is one of the UK’s leading independent wine distributors with our head office based in central London. From our UK depots we offer a national service with a local touch, reaching all sectors of the On and Off Trade. In order to meet our strategic expansion plans we are now looking for a Sales Operations Executive to join our team.


The Opportunity:

The Sales Operation team’s primary purpose is to work collaboratively with the sales organisation to help drive strategic business planning and growth initiatives through the design of sales processes, input into channel and portfolio strategies, and leveraging of sales productivity tools.

This role will manage and lead a support function to drive sales force efficiency and productivity across the business by implementing the role out of sales analysis reporting to identify sales opportunities, and manage the generation, processing and tracking of new business leads. Due to the nature of the business the SOM will also play a key role in building relationship and performance of our key agency partners through intelligent commercial investments of their marketing investment.

The Sales Operations Manager will be responsible for driving the development, testing and roll out of sales productivity tools to the sales teams, also helping to facilitate sales team training.

The successful candidate will play a key part in the management and resolution of customer related issues – working closely with the sales team to identify issues and rectify by working cross functionally with Purchasing, Marketing, Finance & IT.



  • Create and manage the roll out of sales performance analysis and reporting dashboards
  • Work with the National On Trade Sales Director to deliver targeted sales activities in line with channel & segment strategies such as templated wine lists and sales incentives for key producers.
  • Optimize lead generation, pipeline management and performance tracking to increase new business activity.
  • Assist in the development and roll out of sales tools and platforms to improve sales team efficiency and commercial effectiveness.
  • Provide support during the collation of tender documents for group and regional on trade accounts, liaising with other departments and agency brands as required.
  • Manage a team that provide a range of administrative support to the field sales teams to help in the achievement of channel objectives
  • Work with National On Trade Sales Director in the creation of cascade documents / training materials and performance review metrics
  • Manage a team effectively to deal with all sales manager queries and escalate as required to the NOSD and wider business where appropriate


Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven track record of delivering sales projects to a consistently high standard and on forecast
  • Proven ability to monitor and review forecasts
  • Experience of working as an Account Manager within the Wine industry, preferably WSET qualified
  • Ability to form professional working relationships with customers and within teams
  • Ability to understand, interpret and enforce business processes
  • Fluent in the use of MS Office and ideally with experience of using the ‘Navision’ system
  • Ability to influence and motivate a team in order to achieve directives set by the business
