To lead and manage our Porter & Laker section ensuring that targets in relation to activities, service, quality and productivity are met at all times. Supporting the Operations Director in all aspects of managing and developing the Porter & Laker activity.


  • Actively involved in the continued development of the Porter & Laker activity, including but not limited to; Financials, Pricing, Commercial and Operational elements
  • Cultivate client relationships to truly understand their needs to enhance our existing customer offering
  • Supporting the development of new service extensions to our customers
  • Review Porter & Laker procedures. Implement changes as needed to provide positive improvements to ensure a ‘best in class’ service is offered at all times
  • Monitor service level agreements and implement any corrective action required
  • Translate agreed objectives and priorities into clear plans for self and others
  • Create a performance & learning culture that secures support and respect from staff and drives continuous improvement
  • Contribute to the evaluation and development of business strategy and performance
  • Implement and support Company and Group Human Resources policies and procedures
  • Reinforce a learning culture by actively supporting, rewarding and providing opportunities for staff development

  • Drive performance by training and coaching staff as required within own areas of responsibility
  • Promote efficiency and profitability by encouraging and facilitating a climate of best practice and quality throughout the department
  • Undertake direct management responsibility for the Porter & Laker division


  • The position may involve overseas/national travel as required


  • Global Freight Forwarding Experience


  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills

  • Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
  • Experienced team player with the ability to further develop and motivate others
  • Enthusiastic and driven to achieve targets and objectives

  • Excellent verbal & written English
  • Any other Languages (Desirable)


  • Good computer skills including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Knowledge of AXIS 2 (Desirable but not Essential)
  • Knowledge of FLOW (Desirable but not Essential)


  • Good standard of education


  • 3-5 years’ experience in Freight Forwarding/Logistics
  • Experience in managing and developing people
  • Experience in a customer facing role
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • A willingness to question the tradition to find a better way
  • The ability to identify and develop improved ways of working and lead teams through change
  • A genuine commitment to service delivery
  • Demonstrable experience in using various motivational techniques
  • Experience in building and delivering customer-centric solutions
  • Proven ability to deploy available resources in an effective and efficient manner
