JOB PURPOSE

To manage Commercial Procurement, with responsibility for haulier performance levels, maintenance of inbound pricing database and business GM improvement.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily management of supplier performance levels and KPI reporting
  • Agree and implement service level agreements with key suppliers
  • Support General Manager in freight negotiations with supply partners
  • Spot buying from freight partners where required
  • Trade-lane supply & demand analysis and market trends understanding
  • Identifying potential new haulage partners
  • Continuous Improvement of department processes and ways of working
  • Promote efficiency and profitability by encouraging and facilitating a climate of best practice and quality throughout the department
  • Translate agreed objectives and priorities into clear plans for self and others
  • Actively promote and maintain Group culture, style and standards within the company

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The above duties are not an exhaustive list. The job holder may be required to undertake additional duties as the needs of the business dictate, which may include other areas of the business.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate and encourage the belief that learning, development and change is a personal responsibility
  • Proactively support team/departmental/Company change projects
  • Implement and support Company and Group Human Resources policies and procedures
  • Proactively manage personnel issues including absence and timekeeping
  • Proactively support the Company performance management and appraisal system and lead the process by example
  • Reinforce a learning culture by actively supporting, rewarding and providing opportunities for staff development
  • Active involvement in any relevant staff recruitment in conjunction with Senior Management and Human Resources

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Client Development – external visits
  • Possible visits to Other JF Hillebrand Group Offices
  • Travel will be required as part of the role

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Working knowledge of QRS
  • Working knowledge of FLOW

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good standard of general education

  • Experience in pricing negotiations
  • Understanding of global freight forwarding market
  • Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Experience in leading teams through change
  • Experience in managing and developing people
  • Existing relationships with service providers
  • Understanding of digital and technological advancements relevant to the logistics sector
