Jeroboams are offering the opportunity for a self motivated and experienced individual to join their fast growing team as a Private Account Manager. Reporting to the Commercial Director you will provided with an active customer list which you will be expected to grow through developing strong relationships and identifying potential new customers.


Role Purpose

To develop business with private account customers so as to grow the private customer part of the Jeroboams Group business in line with its plans and expectations. This role is a key interface between the Business and the private customer. The role not only requires success in terms of sales and profitability but also, crucially, representation of Company and its reputation.


Role Scope

This role is responsible  for acquiring new customers through introductions, events and other means and for providing these customers (in collaboration with other parts of the business such as fine wine buying and service departments) with wines that they will enjoy thereby increasing their spend.

Targets for achievement will be agreed with the Commercial Director.

There will be a close co-operation with the retail shops and their management and staff in order to ensure that the private customer, wherever they ‘meet’ Jeroboams will receive the appropriate service for their needs.

It would be expected that account managers will be spending time recruiting customers through personal tastings and introductions along with the role of providing existing clients with offers via email or other route.

Key Accountabilities

  • The agreement (with the Commercial Director) and achievement of targets for the growth of private customer numbers and the spend and profitability of those and existing customers.
  • Representing Jeroboams to the private customer and promoting the Company’s wines and services.
  • Leading by example in adherence to Company Values and standards.
  • As required representing and promoting the Company with growers and suppliers when tasting or on trips (such as En Primeur)
  • Agreement to and responsibility for contribution towards the Divisional budget achievement
  • (Working closely with the Financial Controller) Management of cash flow and risk in relation to debtors associated with Private Wine business.
  • (Working with IT, Office management and others) to encourage and use technology effectively and creatively to add value and efficiency to their Business
  • Accountability for reputation of the Private Wine businesses.
  • As appropriate working with the brand and marketing functions to raise the profile of the Jeroboams Private Sales business.
  • Representing the Company at relevant and beneficial trade events.

  • Deep understanding of the nature of the Private Wine Sales businesses and the commercial rationale behind it with a view to growing business return.
  • Significant market and wine and spirit industry awareness, and high level of analysis
  • Good level of wine knowledge (recommended to WSET level 3 or above)



  • Sales experience in relationship based business
  • 5 years + working with wine.
  • Proven ability to recruit and grow customers in a business
