Hispamerchants is the UK’s leading specialist in Argentinian wines. We represent the most prestigious family-owned wineries from Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil and Spain in the UK with more than 15 years’ experience in the trade. We are a young, enthusiastic team and as a result of our continuous expansion we are looking to recruit a salesperson to head up our Wholesale division in a role that will focus primarily on targeting Drinks Wholesalers.

OVERVIEW
The Head Of Wholesale position is a vital part of Hispamerchants Ltd five years plan.

Hispamerchants Ltd are looking to hire an ambitious, proactive and self-motivated individual to grow our customer base of Drinks  Wholesalers. The role will involve procurement of new customers within the Drinks Wholesale sector with a focus on winning new business as opposed to developing existing Hispamerchants accounts. The target market will be drinks wholesalers across the whole of the UK. You will be a key member of the sales team, with your primary role being to target Wholesalers of wines, spirits and beers whose customer base may
inhabit both the On-Trade and Off-Trade sectors.

Having gained listings of Hispamechants products with UK Drinks Wholesalers, your role is likely to develop as you take a hands-on role in supporting the sales team within each Wholesaler, whilst naturally continuing to focus on gaining new customers. As such, you will be work towards the company’s growth goals for the next 5 years. The role will be predominantly field-based with occasional meetings at our London office. As a key member of the sales team, you will deliver business growth and maximize revenue and profit. You will hold strong industry connections and a wide-reaching network ideally within the drinks wholesaler sector. Excellent presentation skills and the ability to develop long standing commercial partnerships are essential.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, tenacious and be able to demonstrate excellent relationship management skills. Key to success will be identifying prospects and opportunities across the whole of the UK and being prepared to travel to develop those opportunities. Strong communication skills are also a must, both amongst your customer base and within the rest of the Hispamerchants team. From the outset, you will be responsible for approaching drinks wholesalers within your network as well as conducting research to identify new prospects and ultimately reaching defined sales, margin & profit targets. The 5 year strategy plan for HispaMerchants will also require you to be involved in recruiting and managing a growing Wholesale division.

Responsibilities

  • Head up the Hispamerchants Wholesale division reporting to the Managing Director and Commercial Director on a weekly basis.
  • Recruit and train new sales executives
  • Achieve monthly sales, margin, new customers and active customers targets.
  • Liaise with Brand Manager for Marcelo Pelleriti and Kauzo wineries
  • Liaise with Hispamechants Operations department regarding order deadlines and to ensure smooth fulfillment of
    customer orders.
  • Identifying and pitching to prospects.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with your growing portfolio of Drinks Wholesalers looking for expansion opportunities.
  • Provide strong support to the sales team within each Wholesale customer. Support is likely to include:
    o Providing marketing and POS material
    o Tastings with the Wholesaler’s sales team to development knowledge of Hispamerchants products
    o Visits with the Wholesaler’s sales team to their customers
    o Visits to the Wholesaler with winemakers visiting the UK
    o Formulating incentives which may include trips to Spain and/or South America

Qualifications

  • Sales experience in the drinks business.
  • A strong network within the Wholesale sector.
  • A consistent track record of delivering new business.
  • The ability to formulate strong and convincing proposals.
  • Excellent commercial awareness
  • An ambitious, tenacious and self-motivated personality.
  • Exceptional verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
  • Possession of team-player and team-building qualities.
  • Language skills especially Spanish an advantage though not essential.
  •  WSET qualifications an advantage.
