Bibendum has had a dedicated “Catering” team for over 20 years, specialising in the supply to large contract catering and food service businesses as well as smaller events and party planners. One of the most important parts of what we do is looking after the sporting and cultural events season, which lasts from approximately March until September. In this exciting and varied Events Sales role you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the events season, making sure it runs smoothly from inception to review.


You will be responsible for:

  • Writing wine lists and conducting wine tastings with customers.
  • Conducting customer training on site.
  • Liaising with Bibendum operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth running of deliveries.
  • Using our marketing and training resource to increase sales of wines, spirits and beers.
  • Matching wines to hospitality food menus.
  • Attending internal and customer planning and review meetings and implementing resultant actions.


Key Relationships

Your primary contacts internally will be the relevant National Account Managers and the events sales operations executive. This is a pivotal role within Bibendum however and, as such, touches every team within the business. You will need to network extensively internally to understand all teams, functions and best practice across the business.

Your key customer contacts will be the operations teams, both on a site and senior level. The role holder must be able to engage with everyone within a customer from the MD to temporary waiting staff, as well as the customer’s customers.


Employee Profile

The ideal candidate will have good product knowledge (WSET advanced level preferably) and a passion for the subject. You will have sales experience in the wine or drinks industry and be able to display keen financial knowledge. You will be confident and gregarious and able to stand up and talk in front of people. You will have excellent customer service at the heart of everything you do. You will need to be self motivating and independent but able to work as part of a team. You will also be prepared to go the extra mile and work the occasional evening and Saturday. The role can be high pressured and you will need to able to show experience of handling a complex and varied workload. Experience of project planning (formal qualifications not necessary) and an ability to think through a problem, formulate a plan and execute it, is key. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook is required.
