Exploring Beajoulais Wines Across the Years and Appellations

Discover the versatility of the Gamay grape, which reaches its peak expression in the terroirs of Beaujolais. Join Anne McHale MW for a masterclass on Tuesday 9 April 2019 at 3PM.

Nestled between Burgundy to the North and The Rhône to the South, Beaujolais is home to 12 appellations, including Beaujolais, Beaujolais Villages, and the 10 Crus. Go back in time and travel through the region with wines from several appellations and outstanding vintages, including 2015, 2016 and 2017.

These historical vintages delivered exceptional wines in Beaujolais. In 2017, volumes were smaller than usual but of fantastic quality: concentrated, structured, aromatic, with good balance and refreshing acidity. In 2016, a hot year in Beaujolais, wines were fruity, fresh and round, with supple and silky tannins. In 2015, they were generous, smooth, complex, rich yet perfectly balanced, with great ageing potential.

From the one grape, Gamay, is born a whole range of wines able to satisfy any consumer’s taste preference for all seasons and any occasion. This masterclass is a must for anyone willing to rediscover Beaujolais and interested in offering premium wines from France

The masterclass will be presented by Anne McHale MW who dedicated her Master of Wine dissertation to Beaujolais Wines: “Beaujolais in UK market: UK wine trade attitudes and future prospects”. Anne worked at Berry Bros. & Rudd for ten years before moving into consultancy and teaching WSET® courses as a Certified Educator. Sharing insider information, personal anecdotes and years of research, Anne will provide participants with a unique insight into the Beaujolais region. Don’t miss out!
