Winery team stars in hilarious parody of Sia’s Cheap Thrills

31st October, 2016 by Lauren Eads

A Californian winery is back with its latest video showing its team performing a rendition of Sia’s Cheap Thrills, with a vinous twist.

Created by Jordan Vineyard and Winery in Alexander Valley, the video sees everyone from winemakers to grape pickers perform to the song, renamed ‘Grape Thrills set to the backdrop of its Chardonnay harvest.

With “no Sia soundalikes on the winery payroll”, the team enlisted Teresa Cesario, sister to Jordan’s Ashley Cesario, to sing on the track, and Leo Kaliski, a composer from Southern California (who also worked with the team on its Star Wars parody – also well worth a watch) to recreate the music.

“We hope the studio dancers’ outfits, at the very least, give you some Sia Halloween costume ideas with a little wine country flair”, the team said of its creation.

Founded in 1972, Jordan Vineyard & Winery is managed by second-generation vintner John Jordan.

See below for the video and revised lyrics, and watch Sia’s original Cheap Thrills video here.

“Grape Thrills”

Come on, come on. Turn the headlamps on.
It’s Friday night; harvest won’t be long.
Gotta grab my knife; I wanna pick til’ dawn.
It’s Friday night, and it won’t be long.
‘Till we fill gondolas, fill gondolas.
Pick for acidity.
No I don’t want sun.
Just moonlight, hon.
I got cold fruit, baby.

Baby, all I need is a harvest moon to make wine tonight.
(I love grape thrills!)
Baby, all I need is a balanced vine to make wine tonight.
(I love grape thrills!)
But I don’t want no cougar juice.
I want a Chard that tastes like fruit.
I don’t need high alcohol.
‘Want a wine that pairs with it all.

Come on, come on, turn the hopper on.
It’s Saturday; sorting table’s long.
Gotta taste press cuts, turn my TankNet on.
It’s Saturday; ferments won’t be long.

‘Til it hits the barrel.
Hits the barrel.
Juice got purity.
We don’t want butter.
We don’t want jam.
It tastes like Burgundy.

Baby, all I need is a harvest moon to make wine tonight.
(I love grape thrills!)
Baby, all I need to a balanced vine to make wine tonight.
(I love grape thrills!)

But I don’t want no cougar juice.
I want a Chard that tastes like fruit.
I don’t need high alcohol.
‘Want a wine that pairs with it all.

(I love grape thrills!)
