Events / Exploring Beaujolais Wines Across The Years & Appellations
Discover the versatility of the Gamay grape variety, which character is undeniably best expressed in the terroirs of Beaujolais.
Nestled between Burgundy to the North and Rhône to the South, Beaujolais is home to 12 appellations including Beaujolais, Beaujolais Villages, and the 10 Crus. Go back in time and travel through the region with wines from several appellations and outstanding vintages, 2015, 2016, 2017.
These historical vintages delivered exceptional wines in Beaujolais. In 2017, volumes were smaller than usual but of fantastic quality: concentrated, structured, aromatic, with good balance and refreshing acidity. In 2016, a hot year in Beaujolais, wines were fruity, fresh, round, with supple and silky tannins. In 2015, they were generous, smooth, complex, rich yet perfectly balanced, with great ageing potential.
From the one grape Gamay is born a whole range of wines able to satisfy any consumer’s taste preference for all seasons and any occasion. The session is a must for anyone willing to rediscover Beaujolais beyond its clichés, and interested in offering premium wines from France, as friendly as they are accessible.
