Lewis Hamilton to ‘self-sponsor’ at Ferrari with Almave brand
Lewis Hamilton is rumoured to become one of Ferrari’s primary sponsors with his Pernod Ricard-backed non-alcoholic Tequila brand.
British racing driver Lewis Hamilton made headlines in February when it was revealed that he would be joining the team at Ferrari from 2025.
It now appears that the seven-time F1 champion will be bringing with him a new sponsor — his own alcohol-free spirits brand.
F1 blogger Joe Saward revealed the rumour in his latest online post, saying that news of Hamilton potentially ‘self-sponsoring’ at Ferrari was floated at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Saward commented in his latest Green Notebook: “One interesting rumour in the Singapore paddock was that Lewis Hamilton might end up sponsoring himself at Ferrari.”
The rumours suggest that by next year, Almave could very well be featured on the iconic red Ferrari F1 car.
If true, Hamilton will have the backing of Almave’s latest investor: Pernod Ricard.
In August, the French spirits giant announced the acquisition of a minority stake in Almave. Pernod’s role, the company said in a press release at the time, would be to scale the product to several markets throughout the world.
Hamilton said at the time: “When I decided to embark on this project it was important to me to find partners who could help me realise my vision without compromise. I am proud we were able to do that, not just in quality and taste but also with real ingredients and time-honoured techniques.
“It’s exciting that Pernod Ricard has, today, become an official stakeholder in Almave; allowing us to unleash the potential of the next stage of our journey, and help take Almave to even more people around the world.”
