The Kraken rum has opened an alternative Valentine’s Day novelty this year: the world’s first seaweed florist.

Brought to life by renowned florists Rebel Rebel, the kombu kelp and egg wrack-comprised bouquets provide an arresting spectacle for the senses. Each box shipped by The Kraken Rum will also contain miniature bottles of Kraken Rum and ingredients for a seaweed cocktail.

Jan Smink, owner of restaurant Smink in Wolvego in The Netherlands, has been named the winner of the renowned Le Taittinger Prix Culinaire International, following a gastronomic battle at the legendary London Le Cordon Bleu culinary school. This year marked the first time the contest has been held outside France.

And Yealands Chief Winemaker Natalie Christensen visited London to mark the launch of the new-look Yealands Reserve for the 2022 vintage.
