The week in pictures

This week in the world of drinks: Gary Barlow toasts the first anniversary of his wine brand, Cono Sur attends a B Corp celebration event, and Champagne Taittinger was front and centre at the British Independent Film Awards.

Take That frontman Gary Barlow toasted one year of Gary Barlow Organic wine, made in partnership with Benchmark Drinks, at an event in London this week.

The singer treated those in attendance to an impromptu concert which included changing the lyrics to his hit Shine to ‘drink some wine’.

“On 24th November B Lab UK, the not-for-profit company responsible for B Corporation certifications,  held a celebration to mark 1,000 B Corps being certified in the UK. This number represents a great achievement, and growth is accelerating – at the end of 2021 there were only 564 certified B Corps in the UK.

B Corporations are businesses which meet high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials. Every B Corp makes a legal commitment to change its corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders, and must allow the results of its B Impact assessment to be publicly available on B Lab’s website.

The event, “1000x Better”, was held at the iconic Natural History Museum in central London and representatives from most of the 1,000 B Corps attended, where they were served drinks from B Corp certified companies. Cono Sur, certified B Corporation in Chile in April 2021, was delighted to partner with the organisers and pour their Organic Sauvignon Blanc and Organic Pinot Noir for the assembled guests.”

Champagne Taittinger was front and centre at the British Independent Film Awards as its official Champagne sponsor. The awards ceremony was hosted by Ben ‘Doc Brown’ Smith on 4 December in London.

And Mark Ronson and Penfolds were there to celebrate Miami Art Week, with the multi-award winning producer bringing the event to a close in style while guests sipped on Penfolds’ latest wine collections.
