Behind the beer-fuelled Women’s Euros celebrations
The Lionesses brought it home at London’s Wembley Stadium last night, beating Germany 2-1 in the Women’s Euros 2022 finals. And spirits were high as the team celebrated in their dressing room with beers and dancing.
England’s squad partied well into the night after securing a win against our long-standing German rivals yesterday.
Chloe Kelly’s winning goal came just 10 minutes before the end of extra time, when the thought of penalties was looming.
The 24-year-old star sub won the game for England after German player Lina Magull levelled the score following Ella Toone’s first goal.
And the Lionesses wasted no time before celebrating, posting videos of their changing room party to Instagram.

The national heroes partied hard, bringing out the dance moves, with “it’s coming home” blasted in the background, and beers flowing.
Coach Sarina Weigman made sure she celebrated with beer, despite it not being her favourite tipple. “For the first time in years I had a beer,” Weigman, originally from The Netherlands, said at the post-match press conference.
“I don’t like it but I enjoyed it. First we will party. I am really pleased how we accomplished it.”
Arsenal defender Lotte Wubben-Moy’s Instagram story showed the Euro trophy nestling in a crate of Heineken beers and ice with the caption ‘on ice’.
England’s champions continued celebrating on board their tour bus, with Toone posting videos of herself and her teammates singing along to Sophie Ellis-Bextor tune Murder on the Dancefloor.
The Women’s Euros 2022 are an historic occasion for the sport. It marks the first ever major win for England’s women’s team, and the first for England in 56 years following the 1966 World Cup.
