Moth Margaritas in a can take off on British Airways

Margaritas from ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktail brand Moth will be available on short-haul British Airways flights to and from UK airports.

Moth, standing for “Mix of total happiness”, has built upon its soaring success in supermarkets with this latest deal which takes the brand, quite literally, to new heights.

The 14.9% ABV beverage is Moth’s rendition of one of the world’s most well-known cocktails. The 125ml can contains a mixture of Tequila Enemiga, Moth’s triple sec and lime (but no salt on the rim) and will be available on flights for £5.80.

Co-founder Rob Wallis told db: “We love making it easier than ever for cabin crew to serve great cocktails at 30,000 feet and we can’t wait to explore bringing more Moth to the skies soon…Moth cans are perfect for air travel; they are recyclable, light and easy to serve…all you have to do is crack it open and pour over ice or drink straight from the can.”

Though the RTD market is competitive, Wallis believes that Moth’s transparency sets it apart: “We list all of our spirit partners on our cans so people know exactly what they’re drinking and make them in just the same way as your favourite bartender.”

When asked what’s next for the brand, Wallis said: “Over the next couple of months we will release three more cocktails which we’re super excited about and will offer even more choice for cocktail enthusiasts. We’ll also be looking at taking our cans to more places that are calling out for great tasting cocktails.”

Earlier this year, Moth secured listings at Tesco and Sainsbury’s, having been stocked in Waitrose supermarkets since February 2021.
