Próspero Tequila collaborates with Lockdown Liquor Co on new cocktail

Próspero Tequila has partnered with cocktail creators Lockdown Liquor & Co to launch a limited-edition RTD cocktail in the UK.

The new cocktail, named the Cantarita, has drawn inspiration from the traditional Jaliscan Cantaritos serve that is typically served in its eponymous clay pot and uses Próspero Blanco Tequila at its base with the addition of citrus fruits including grapefruit, lime and orange, finished with a sweet touch of agave nectar.

The perfect serve for the Cantarita, which gives a nod to Próspero’s chief creative officer, Rita Ora, is to offer the drink over ice, topped with soda and a pinch of salt.

The 100% Blue Agave Próspero Blanco Tequila is hand-crafted in the lowlands of Jalisco by Stella Anguiano, one of Mexico’s premier female master distillers, making it a fitting choice to honour the cocktail’s heritage.

Jack & Natasha Durling, co-founders of Lockdown Liquor & Co said: “When Rita and the team sent us a bottle of their award-winning Próspero Blanco, we knew we had to create something together. It’s seriously smooth on its own and works incredibly as the base of this zesty blend… Think of it as The Paloma’s supercharged sibling!”

Próspero Tequila chief creative officer Rita Ora added: “The vision of Cantaritos clay pots stacked high along the roadside bars in Jalisco is one of my happiest sights. Trips to the Próspero Tequila distillery often end with a refreshing Cantaritos, so the fact that Lockdown Liquor & Co. have helped us to create our very own version here in the UK makes my heart so full.”

The Cantarita weighs in at 16% ABV per 500ml, retailing at £25 and will be available while stocks last from the Lockdown Liquor webshop, while Próspero Blanco Tequila continues to be stocked nationwide and online in Selfridges and via The Bottle Club.
