This week in the world of drinks: Bottega’s Prosecco bar in Dubai airport reopens, Echolands Winery opens its first tasting room in Walla Walla, and the UK’s poshest haggis is to be served at The Borrowdale Hotel.

On 22nd December 2021 the Bottega Prosecco Bar inside Dubai airport, officially reopened its doors to thirsty travellers. Due to the pandemic, the location was closed for over a year and a half, but had posted strong results when it first opened in 2019.

Echolands Winery has announced the opening of their first tasting room in Walla Walla, which began serving customers on 6 January.

The tasting room will give customers the opportunity to sample the latest offerings from Echolands Winery.

The UK’s ‘poshest haggis’ is set to be served at The Borrowdale Hotel near Keswick in celebration of Burns night.

Traditional haggis will be served on an opulent silver-plated carving trolley worth an estimated £25,000.

Dani Hope, Director at Lake District Hotels which includes The Borrowdale Hotel, said: “The serving trolley is very much part of The Borrowdale Hotel and is used to serve our Sunday roasts and on other special occasions.

“It’s irreplaceable in terms of what it means to the hotel, and we’ve been told that to buy a new one could cost more than £25,000.

“We recently had restoration work done on the trolley at a cost of nearly £3,500 to ensure that it’s in excellent working condition and can continue to be used to serve diners for years to come.”

The Borrowdale Hotel’s Burns Night Supper takes place on Friday, January 21.
