Could Rosé Negronis be the next cocktail trend for 2022?

Maison Mirabeau and Vault Vermouth have collaborated to create a limited-edition Rosé Vermouth and suggest a new trend for Rosé Negronis.

The vermouth, which has been created to complement Mirabeau’s Dry Rosé Gin and to ultimately give people the chance to mix Rosé Negronis, is being positioned as an “aromatic aperitif which boasts captivating Riviera aromas” and different to what is already out there for mixologists.

The brand extension, which initally began as a way to minimise Maison Mirabeau’s environmental impact and avoid waste after event were cancelled  due to the pandemic, has been upheld as a way for drinkers to traverse categories and yet indulge in a well-crafted drink that hits the spot for negroni fans as well as rosé and gin adorers.

Realised, as many good things are, over a glass of wine, Maison Mirabeau and Vault Vermouth came together, recognising the surplus stock of Mirabeau’s 2019 Vintage Prét-à-Porter  rosé and decided that they would make the ideal base liquid to produce Vermouth. As a result, two forward-thinking brands have given new life to surplus stock and created a small batch of aromatic wine-based aperitif out of the situation.

According to the companies, the collaboration celebrates the South of France with lemon, pink pepper, fig, rose petal and a home-grown blend of ‘Herbes de Provence’ coming to life and is a welcome addition to Mirabeau’s growing range of wines and spirits.

Vault Vermouth x Mirabeau’s signature Rosé Negroni includes: 35ml Mirabeau Dry Rosé Gin, 35ml Vault x Mirabeau Rosé Vermouth and 15ml bitters. Drinkers are encouraged to pour the ingredients into a rocks glass and give the drink a gentle stir. Take a long peel of orange zest, wipe it around the rim of the glass and pinch the peel over the drink to express a little oil for the perfect serve.

Maison Mirabeau founder, Jeany Cronk said: “With the growing trend of the at home aperitif and the rise of the negroni, this aromatic vermouth is delicately and perfectly balanced to complement our Mirabeau Dry Rosé Gin. I’m really happy to say that this limited release rosé vermouth provides the ultimate taste experience of the joyous French Riviera.”

Vault Vermouth founder, Dan Joines added: “At Vault we are constantly reviewing how resourceful we can be, minimising our waste and upcycling anything and everything we can – from reusing packaging that we receive from deliveries to utilising surplus ingredients from our bakery next door, Rye by the Water. Nothing goes to waste unless it really has to. For this reason it was so exciting when we came together with Mirabeau to transform their excess rosé from the pandemic into this Rosé Vermouth. I was so excited to explore the botanicals of the South of France, to celebrate the heritage of the wine as well as to create a botanical bill which compliments Mirabeau’s Dry Rosé Gin – the two work perfectly together. We’re so proud of the vermouth itself, it’s got a lovely balance and floral palate, and dilutes really well. This vermouth has been created with slightly higher ABV and with more body than our signature ’sipping’ vermouths, so it can be paired with bigger spirits.”

The limited edition Vault x Mirabeau Rosé Vermouth is available to buy online at the Maison Mirabeau online boutique as well as online at Vault Vermouth.
