Guinness is releasing its first official cookbook

Containing more than 70 recipes perfect for pairing with Guinness, the Irish brand’s fully-sanctioned book launches in the US today, with pre-orders available for a December UK release.

Guinness has long been a well-kept secret ingredient among gourmands, used to add extra richness and depth to everything from sausage casseroles to chocolate cake. Now, through the release of its inaugural cookbook, the brand is keen to bring the ingredient out “from under the radar” and into more of our kitchens.

The Official Guinness Cookbook, written by Irish food and drink journalist Caroline Hennessey, a graduate of the Ballymaloe Cookery School, features a host of dishes including braised short ribs, traditional Guinness soda bread, and indulgent chocolate potato cake.

Along with recipes designed specifically to pair with the brewer’s stouts, ales, and lagers, and some containing the beers themselves, there are also dishes lifted directly from the food menu served at Dublin Guinness Storehouse, which has been feeding visitors its famous Guinness Burger, and Guinness chocolate mousse for years.

The collection of recipes is said to be perfect for ‘anyone who wants to bring the taste and comfort of an Irish pub home.”

A handful of cocktail recipes incorporating Guinness, such as a ‘Creamy Mint Cocktail’, are also included for impressing guests at home.
