Bartender reveals how differently she is treated by customers after gaining weight

A 28-year-old bartender has shared a video in which she explains the shocking disparity in how she is treated by her customers since she put on some weight.

Cassidy Lane, a bartender who goes by the username of @body_positive_bartender on TikTok, explained that she found that people treated her completely differently after she gained weight while receiving help for an eating disorder.

“So I work in the service industry, right, I’m a bartender, and if you were unaware, the way you look influences it a lot, whether that’s tips or how people treat you, it just does.” Cassidy said in response to a TikTok trend on “pretty privilege”.

Becoming clearly emotional, the 28-year-old revealed how “people don’t even look you in the eye anymore” since she gained weight, stating “they’re not nice to you”.

Cassidy Lane says that male customers in particular have treated her poorly since her appearance changed.

“[Am] I ever going to be worth more than my looks?” she posits during the video.

The video is captioned, “We can all pretend it’s not true, but we know it is.”

And commenters flooded the post with thanks and support to Cassidy for her candid message and the sentiment behind it.

“THANK you for your vulnerability. This has been so heavy on my heart lately.” One commenter wrote.

And plus-size model Tess Holliday commented on the post, simply writing “I believe you.”

Hopefully, Cassidy Lane’s post can serve as a vital reminder that, whatever our profession, we all deserve to be treated with respect and kindness as we go about living our lives.

Meanwhile, one bartender in the UK was left stunned by her boss’ furious tirade when she quit her job on his wedding day.
