Kiara Claire, 18, had worked at the King’s Ransom pub in Greater Manchester since May, but informed her assistant manager that she had applied for a new role. She’d be doing a trial shift at the new place of work before they decided whether to hire her or not.

Per news.com.au, her manager had initially appeared supportive of his employee, though this seemed to turn to fury when she messaged to say that she was accepting the role and would be leaving.

The response she received, purportedly from her manager, read:

“Kiara. My love. It’s my wedding day. I don’t give a toss if you’re employed or not.

“And whilst we’re doing this, as you have had the level of disrespect to message me, with this meaningful nonsense. ON MY WEDDING DAY. I would like to give you some home truths.

“You have no initiative. You are a vacuous poser. You are too focused on how you look and not what you do.

“You are a useless employee.”

It continued:

“You would rather text than do your job. You should be embarrassed about this.

“But hear my words. Because they will do you a favour.

“Nobody is interested in YOU. Your work ethics are the only thing matter. Focus on the job and stop focusing on yourself.

“Beauty will fade. Dumb b**** is forever.”

Kiara, who suffers with anxiety, said she thought she initially thought the message must be a joke, but realised it was not after speaking with friends and family.

“It was only until the next morning when I re-read it that I started to get upset about it because the way it had been set out looked like he was being quite serious about it.

“I suffer from anxiety and it was quite shocking and upsetting to read. It did make me feel worse, it knocked my confidence.” She told the Manchester Evening News.

The 18-year-old said that she had called her boss asking what was going on, but he denied sending the message – claiming instead that it had been written by a friend.

The general manager of the King’s Ransom pub later wrote on Facebook that the company would be investigating the incident.

“I am aware of a message circulating on social media between a member of staff and my assistant manager.

“As the general manager of The Kings Ransom, I would like to assure you we take matters like this very serious and the matter is currently being investigated as a matter of urgency.

“I would like to apologise on behalf of The Kings Ransom for any distress caused.

“As a matter of due process, we will not be commenting any further on this matter.” He said.

A bartender in the United States is being heralded as a hero, meanwhile, after his quick-thinking saved a woman from a “creepy” man who would not leave her alone.
