Glen Moray unveils exclusive Private Cask Collection (and it’s rather special)

Speyside distillery Glen Moray launches its Private Cask Collection, a series of handpicked, small-batch whiskies, the first of which has a sweet Marsala finish

Glen Moray has been delving into the spectacular wealth of flavours which different casks can offer its light and fruity whisky since the distillery was founded in 1897, a tradition continued by its craftsmen to this day. Now, some of the distillery’s most treasured single malts have been unearthed and used to create a new series of precious, small-batch whiskies, each finished in different wine casks, the first of which is a Marsala wine cask.

Marrying the quintessential flavour of the 13-year-old Speyside release with a subtle sweetness imbued through ageing in a Sicilian wine cask, the unique Private Cask Collection is limited to just 238 bottles.

And it doesn’t stop there. The collection will be followed for the US market by a 10-year-old release finished in Pauillac Grand Cru red wine casks from Bordeaux, with an exceptional 26-year-old Madeira finish waiting in the wings for China.

Handpicked from Glen Moray’s Warehouse 1, where the distillery’s most cherished casks are kept under lock and key, the whiskies of the Private Cask Collection each show ‘outstanding’ depth and character and exemplify the skill of Glen Moray’s master distillers, as well as the distillery’s warm embracing of wine-making cultures and traditions from around the globe.

“The Private Cask Collection is the perfect opportunity for whisky collectors to explore some of Glen Moray’s most treasured casks,” said Glen Moray brand ambassador Iain Allan. “Each single malt selected for the series stands out due to its exceptional quality – and the first release is not to be missed. Finished in Marsala wine casks, this 13-year-old bottling showcases the versatility of Glen Moray whisky and demonstrates how it integrates, moulds and marries with different cask influences to produce a truly stunning and unique dram.”
