Two complete strangers banded together to form a ruse that got them free drinks all night, and since footage of the stunt was posted on social media, it has sparked a heated debate.

A TikTok video, which was later shared to Reddit’s ‘Trashy’ subreddit, a pair of total strangers can be seen faking a marriage proposal in a packed bar in order to secure themselves free drinks.

The bar staff join in with the celebrations, toasting the happy ‘couple’ with complimentary booze.

The video is captioned on TikTok:

“So we met this guy at Texas Live last night and planned a fake proposal with him.

“People we didn’t even know got so hype about it and made it so fun. And we got free drinks for the rest of the night.”

“If anything they made the night more fun for everyone there!” One commenter wrote.

“I’ve been with people that have done this. It’s harmless fun not trashy.” A second chimed in.
