Winner of Patrón Perfectionists Margarita of the Year announced

The winner of this year’s Patrón Perfectionists Margarita of the Year has been announced, after more than 40 Patrón Perfectionists from across the globe submitted their original take on the Margarita.

Patrón Perfetionists winner Chiara Mascellaro

This year’s quest for the Patrón Perfectionists Margarita of the Year was launched by Difford’s Guide on 22 February to coincide with International Margarita Day and saw some 40-plus entries from previous Patrón Perfectionists global finalists.

Ultimately, Chiara Mascellaro’s ‘Rosalia’ cocktail was crowned the winner as the most voted cocktail. This year’s quest saw a focus on home cocktail making, with bartenders encouraged to explore the potential of a Margarita using everyday ingredients.

Mascellaro’s ‘Rosalia’ cocktail represented an important message. Dedicated to women, Mascellaro created the drink to raise awareness for Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.

Chiara Mascellaro, who is from Italy, commented of her win:

“I am absolutely delighted to see my Rosalia was voted Margarita of the Year, particularly as this cocktail represents a cause that is very important to me. This challenge has been an opportunity to put my creativity at test in a moment when our bartending community needs more inspiration and stimulus than ever. Not only I had fun in experimenting and creating my own signature PATRÓN Margarita. I loved being in touch with my fellow Perfectionists all over the world and feeling part of this supportive community who share the same passion and dedication to the world of mixology. Thank you to all who made this achievement possible.”

Senior Director, Global Marketing at Patrón, Matthew Sykes added:

“We are very proud of all the Patrón Perfectionists finalists who took part in the Margarita of the Year quest. Their creations have once again showcased the qualities of a high-quality, hand-crafted tequila like Patrón in new and exciting ways that evidently capture the imagination and attention of consumers around the world. The talent of these individuals is undisputed, and we feel honoured to call them our Familia Patrón. Congratulations to Chiara for the success of her Rosalia cocktail.”

Simon Difford, founder and publisher of Difford’s Guide said:

“We were really pleased with the quality of each cocktail recipe and with the level of public engagement. Chiara’s creation is delicately bittersweet, with balancing citrus sourness and rich floral rose, which combine brilliantly with the agave notes of PATRÓN Silver. We look forward to seeing consumers and bartenders alike replicate the Rosalia at home. Congratulations, Chiara!”

The recipe for the Rosalia cocktail is as follows:

40ml PATRÓN Silver tequila
10ml Martini Riserva Speciale Bitter
10ml Fresh lemon juice
15ml Rose syrup
Himalayan pink salt for the rim
White flower for garnish

Method:

Shake all the ingredients and double strain directly into the coupe glass with a Himalayan pink salt for rim.

Congratulations to all involved in the quest and to Chiara Mascellaro for her winning cocktail.
