Vera Wang releases limited edition vodka

New York fashion designer Vera Wang has collaborated with premium Polish brand Chopin Vodka on a limited edition release due to launch this spring.

Called Vera Wang x Chopin, the designer selected a special variety of young potato that, according to Chopin, has never been commercially used in a vodka before.

The sustainably grown potatoes that go into the gluten-free vodka were sourced from close to the distillery in the Polish village of Krzesk.

“Working with Chopin Vodka was one of the most educational, fascinating and collaborative experiences I’ve ever had, learning how vodka is made and the various nuances of taste and texture,” Wang said.

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to co-create a spirit I adore so much, with such a storied and respected distiller. It is the culmination of my long love affair with vodka in the most personal and expressive way,” she added.

She revealed that the experience has meant that she will “never ever look at a potato the same way again.”

Sticking with Chopin’s signature bottle shape, the limited edition release features a fashion forward monochrome colour scheme and matte finish. On the back of the bottle is an ode to vodka composed by Wang.

“Her personal touches on this project make it an authentic partnership. She has been actively involved in the entire process. We are honoured to have our first artist-designed collaboration with Vera Wang, who is so passionate about the discovery of vodka,” said Chopin’s founder and CEO, Tad Dorda.

Vera Wang x Chopin will be available for presale on 8 March via the Chopin website, priced at US$99, and will then be rolled out across the US.

Launched in 1993, Chopin is the best-selling potato vodka in the US. The distillery also makes vodkas from rye and wheat. Best known for her wedding dresses, Vera Wang opened her flagship salon at the Carlyle Hotel in New York in 1990, launching a ready-to-wear collection in 2000.
