Cannabis-infused seltzer range launches in US

Hoping to capitalise on the hard seltzer boom, a cannabis-infused ‘social’ seltzer brand called Levia has launched in the US.

Each 12-ounce can of contains 5mg of THC – the psychoactive component of cannabis. According to the brand maker, the sparkling drink, which comes in three flavours, is sugar free.

Priced at US$7 per seltzer, the Levia range went on sale at over 45 licensed cannabis dispensaries across Massachusetts this week.

According to the brand owner, the drinks are made in Georgetown, Massachusetts, with “the finest locally-sourced buds and simple all-natural ingredients”.

The Levia range comprises three variants: the raspberry and lime flavoured ‘Achieve’, ‘Celebrate’, which blends lemon and lime, and the berry flavoured ‘Dream’.

The Achieve seltzer is made with the sativa strain of cannabis, which is said to aid productivity, while Dream is infused with the indica strain, which helps you relax.

“To be the first manufacturer in Massachusetts to bring a product like ours to market is both thrilling and humbling,” said Kristin Rogers, co-founder of Levia.

“The cannabis industry is so dynamic, fuelled by those with an entrepreneurial spirit, including our female-led company. We are excited to establish an infused beverage category in Massachusetts by bringing an innovative zero calorie seltzer to the market as our first product,” she added.
