While a classic margarita is made using the golden trio — Tequila, Triple Sec, and lime juice (plus a deliciously salty rim) — there are many variations of the drink out there to enjoy. Take a look at some of the best Margarita recipes and prepare for a truly tasty National Margarita Day today (22 February).

1. Hampton Water Rosé Rita

Should you be putting rosé in your Margarita? Jon Bon Jovi certainly thinks so. His Provence rosé brand has launched a signature Rosé Rita to celebrate the big day.

Recipe:

2 oz Hampton Water

2 oz Tequila

0.5 oz Lemon Juice

0.5 oz Lime Juice

1 oz Simple Syrup

Method:

Run a lime wedge over the rim of a glass then dip in sugar and set aside. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake until chilled. Strain into prepared glass with fresh ice. Garnish with a strawberry and lime wheel.

2. Casamigos Tequila Margarita

Recipe:

60ml Casamigos Blanco Tequila

30ml Fresh Lime Juice

Method:

1 oz     Apple juice

Method:

Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake to chill. Strain into a chilled margarita glass. Garnish with a small chilli pepper. *Valentina-passion fruit syrup: Combine two parts passion fruit syrup to one part Valentina hot sauce and stir to combine. Store refrigerated.

50ml Tequila 100% or Mezcal Ojo de Dios

25ml fresh lime juice

15ml Agave Syrup

5ml El Yucateco Habanero Sauce

Method:

  • Rim the glass with half lime and Tajin classic chilli powder
  • Add some ice into a cocktail mixer
  • Juice 1 Lime into the cocktail mixer
  • Add 15ml of Agave syrup
  • Add a spoon of El Yucateco Habanero Sauce 
  • Add 50ml Tequila 100% or Mezcal Ojo de Dios
  • Get shaking!
  • Pour into the glass and add a slice on lime
