British Airways sells off Champagne flutes and drinks trolleys

For the first time in its history, British Airways is selling off items from its retired aircraft, including Champagne flutes, drinks trolleys, slippers and the Club World casserole dish.

Some of the First Class tableware on sale

The airline released the items, which were once on board its fleet of Boeing 747 aircraft, for sale yesterday. On offer were items once housed in the First Class and Club World cabins as well as a range of equipment used by staff in-flight.

These include dining items designed by William Edwards for the First Class cabin, including plates, soup bowls, cups, saucers and butter dishes. Other aviation memorabilia being sold through website What a Buy includes bread baskets, towels and towel plates, Champagne flutes, brandy glasses, blankets and slippers.

BA is even selling off its food and drink trolleys for £250 and £200 respectively. Since going on sale, the majority of the items have now sold out.

Carolina Martinoli, director of brand and customer experience, said: “This is an incredible one-off opportunity for people to bring the magic of flying with British Airways in to their own homes. We know that these special items will fly and we are delighted to be able to offer them in time for Christmas to give people the opportunity to make it memorable during a difficult year.”

The items are available here, and the airline is inviting customers to share photos of the products in their homes using the hashtag #BAathome.
