Cameron Diaz adds red wine to Avaline range

Hollywood star Cameron Diaz has added a red wine to her ‘clean’ wine brand, Avaline, which she co-founded with entrepreneur Katherine Power this year.

Cameron Diaz and Katherine Power have added a red to their Avaline range, which is marketed as a ‘clean’ wine brand

Avaline Red is due to go on sale at select retailers in the US next month following strong consumer demand for a red wine within the range.

Diaz and Power had planned to release the wine later in the year, but speeded up the process in response to high demand for an Avaline red.

The wine hails from France and is made from a blend of organically grown Grenache and Syrah grapes. The region of France and vintage of the wine have yet to be revealed.

Since the brand launched in July over 120,000 bottles of Avaline have been sold. The brand currently comprises two wines: a Spanish white and a French rosé.

Made with organic grapes grown in Penedès, the white is a blend of Macabeo, Malvasia and Xarel·lo and is said to offer aromas of citrus and stone fruit.

Avaline Rosé is made in Provence from organically farmed Cinsault, Grenache, Cabernet, Syrah and Caladoc and boasts notes of melon and raspberries.

“Avaline is performing very well on Wine.com, specifically attracting the millennial consumer. To have nearly 4,000 of our customers purchase this item in an eight-week period is a rarity,” said Michael Osborn, founder of Wine.com.

Diaz and Power are seeking to bring more transparency to the wine industry by being open on their labels about what goes into their wines, which are vegan-friendly and free of extras like sugars and concentrates, though their ‘clean’ wine branding message has caused controversy.
