Sir Edward’s launches Beer Reserve whisky

La Martiniquaise-Bardinet’s blended Scotch whisky label Sir Edward’s has launched a new expression, which it says represents an alliance between the brewing and distilling industries.

The Beer Reserve combines malt whisky which has been finished in Scottish ale casks, becoming “impregnated with hoppy notes, caramelised flavours and roasted oat aromas”, with grain whisky to give the final blend.

According to the producer, the resulting whisky has aromas of heather honey, toffee, citrus and sweet hops with flavours of honey, berries and rich maltiness.

The new 40% ABV bottling is the fourth addition to the Sir Edward’s portfolio, which includes Sir Edward’s Finest, a gently peated expression; Sir Edward’s Smoky, and Sir Edward’s 12 Years-Old.

International brand manager, Emilie Cechet, said: “There’s a huge appetite for craft beers right now and this innovative new expression taps in to that demand. Seeing the range grow, and exploring new territories is so exciting. We’re immensely proud of the product – it’s a beautifully smooth whisky that represents excellent value for money with a trendy new design influenced by the craft beer.

“With its interesting hoppy notes and subtle aromas, we believe it offers more diversity for existing Sir Edward’s consumers and we can see it having massive appeal to the younger consumer who may be new to the brand.”
