Jameson launches ‘Triple Triple’ in Duty Free

Irish Distillers-owned Jameson Whiskey has unveiled a new addition to its range exclusively for the global travel retail market.

The “Triple Triple”, available from July, has undergone triple cask maturation at the company’s distillery in Midleton in County Cork.

It has been distilled and blended from a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, with the addition of casks that have been seasoned with fortified wine sourced from Malaga.

The Malaga cask contribution adds “notes of citrus, orchard fruits and spice resulting in a whiskey that has a subtle sweetness and an extra drop of smoothness,” according to an emailed statement from the company.

Jameson Triple Triple is bottled at 40% ABV and will be sold in 1lr format with an RRP of €32 (US$36).

“At Jameson, we’ve known that good things come in threes ever since John Jameson set up his distillery on Bow Street in Dublin and introduced the world to triple-distilled Jameson Irish Whiskey,” master blender Billy Leighton said.

“Jameson Triple Triple is no exception to this rule. Our single pot still and single grain Irish whiskeys have been further enhanced through triple cask maturation to create an exciting new taste experience.”

Brendan Buckley, ID’s international marketing director, said it is hoped the new variant will “further propel the brand forward in the global travel retail sphere.”
