Zachys on track to ‘smash’ 2017 total

US wine auctioneer Zachys has said it is currently on track to “smash” its 2017 sales figures after its latest Hong Kong auction realised HK$50million (US$6m).

The two-day sale featured wines from the cellar of Klaus Umek, the founder of Petrus Advisers and spirits from ‘The Sakura Collection’.

The sale’s top lot was a six litre bottle of 1985 La Tâche from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti which realised HK$543,400, followed by a three litre bottle of the 1971 at HK$518,700.

There was strong bidding for a 60 year old Macallan in Lalique which sold for HK$444,600 and 1998 Petrus, 2007 Chambertin from Leroy, 2009 Mazis Chambertin from Domaine d’Auvernay were also among the best sellers.

Having made over HK$50m at this sale and with an eAuction currently on-going, Zachys is reportedly set to break the sales total it set last year.
