Cristiano Ronaldo spends £27k on wine in 15 minute bar visit

Star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo spent £27,000 on two bottles of red wine on a 15 minute trip to a Mayfair restaurant this week, and reportedly didn’t finish the second bottle.

As reported by The Sun, the Portuguese international and Juventus footballer was spotted entering Mayfair seafood and celeb hotspot Scott’s this week.

Arriving in a group with girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez, the footballer reportedly splashed out on a bottle of Burgundy’s Richebourg Grand Cru for £18,000. Stocks of the wine are so low that it does not feature on the restaurant’s main wine menu, and is only offered to special guests.

Next up, Ronaldo switched to Bordeaux courtesy of Pomerol’s Petrus – a bottle of the 1982 vintage setting him back £9,000.

The Sun reported that the group were in the restaurant for “little over 15 minutes” and just sat at the bar. According to the paper, Ronaldo’s group had a glass and a half of wine each before leaving to watch the ATP finals at the O2 Arena. It added that they “didn’t even finish the second bottle”.

Ronaldo has given the Beckhams a run for their money. The duo are often spotted forking out vast sums for wine including a bottle of 1990 Château Lafite Rothschild, California’s Screaming Eagle and Château Margaux Grand Vin 1995.

David Beckham is co-owner of Diageo’s whisky brand Haig Club and in October this year bought a £3 million London pub with film director Guy Ritchie. Victoria Beckham meanwhile told This Morning that she won’t drink wine under £10 during an interview with celebrity friend Eva Longoria.

The pair’s then six-year-old daughter Harper also bought her father a £4,950 alligator-skin wine case from Louis Vuitton back in May.
