These are the most-popular sparkling wines in global travel retail

As Prosecco continues to boom and producers begin to adopt the branding strategies of their French counterparts, fizz label Bottega has been named the second most-popular sparkling wine in the IWSR’s Global Travel Retail index.

Moet et Chandon is the most-purchased fizz at international airports, according to the report, however Bottega has trumped household names in the Champagne category in the IWSR’s latest study of consumer spending habits.

The Italian fizz label said its success is due in-part to its striking branding, in particular that of Bottega Gold Prosecco – which is “immediately recognisable and appreciated for its elegance and personality.”

The firm’s founder, Sandro Bottega, said: “I’m extremely proud and satisfied to achieve this result, which is due to a combination of quality, packaging and passion. I dedicate this to all my team, who work closely every day with the key players in the market in order to promote our brand.”
