Virtual beer drinking and running app launched

A man has launched an app which features virtual contestants running the Beer Mile with the description: “Chugging! Running! Barfing! All the fun of the beer mile without the public intoxication”.

The Beer Mile, which involves participants completing four laps of a standard 400 metre track while consuming four pints of beer, is well-known for making runners feel a little worse for wear.

A new app created by Hunter Andrin entitled Beer Mile: All-Stars 2018 is vying to appeal to those that “love the beer mile but hate feeling violently ill after”.

The app description continues: “Chugging! Running! Barfing! All the fun of the beer mile without the public intoxication. I mean, you can be intoxicated when you play, just maybe not publicly. Then again, who are we to judge!”

As Runner’s World reports, that as with the actual event, the aim is to run and drink the beer in the fastest time. Using two fingers, users can control the movement of their virtual characters, making sure they don’t burp before the beer foam levels fill up. If this happens, the virtual runner will vomit and return to the start line.

“I wanted to try and make it difficult. I’m a fan of the old-school, tough-as-nails kind of game so I guess that’s what inspired it,” Andrin told Runner’s World.

The app is available on iTunes free of charge for IOS and Android devices.
