Kanye West rumoured to be opening US restaurant

Rapper Kanye West is reported to be on the hunt for a site in California’s Calabasas to open his own restaurant, inspired by the comfort food prepared by his late mother.

Kanye West is reported to be on the hunt for a restaurant in Calabasas

According to gossip site Radar, the Grammy-award winning rapper is shopping for the ideal premises to create a “flagship restaurant in Calabasas”.

“He has this vision of creating high-end comfort food just like his mom used to make, but with a price tag that’s as eye-watering as it is mouth-watering, of course,” its source said.

If the reports proved true, it would see Kanye diversify his business interests into realms of food and wine, an area that he has reported to have dabbled with in the past.

In 2016, the rapper was reported to be preparing to make his own wine at his sprawling California estate in Hidden Hills; a gated community in the San Fernando Valley.

According to US Weekly, West is keen to follow in Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s footsteps by producing a wine from his estate as they do with Provençal pink Château Miraval.

Keen to revive the vineyard on the property, West was reported to have consulted a viticulturalist to see what it will take to turn it into a flourishing vineyard again.

That project never became a reality, however in 2008, Kanye did obtain the rights to open ten Fatburgers around the Chicago area through his food company KW Foods, LLC. Only two locations actually opened. One was closed in 2011, and the other was bought back the company the same year.
