Clubber drops £30,000 Jeroboam of Champagne

This is the moment a man lost his grip on a £30,000 Jeroboam of Champagne, spilling every drop on the floor of an Ibiza night club.

The video, first posted by Ibiza Club News on its Facebook page, shows an unidentified man prepare to pop the cork on a ‘magnum,’ although most likely a Jeroboam, of Champagne in front of cheering crowds, before it slips through his fingers and smashes to the ground.

Visibly shocked, the man is thoroughly sprayed with the fizz before dropping his head into his hands.

The smashed bottle has been widely reported to have cost in the region of £30,000, however the name of the club, brand of Champagne or cuvée is unknown (unless any keen-eyed readers can decipher the label from this video), making it difficult to verify its value. In any case, the mark ups on Champagne at such venues, especially large format magnums and above, are typically off the scale with high fliers often racking up huge bills and bragging rights.

In 2012, 23-year-old ‘financier’ Alex Hope splashed out over £200,000 on drinks at a Liverpool nightclub, breaking the world record for the highest bill ever paid in a club.

His bill included a 30-litre Midas bottle of Armand de Brignac that cost £125,000. The final £204,000 bill included a £18,500 tip. Hope was later convicted of fraud.

It was obviously bigger format than magnum…

  2. Kévin BONNET says:

It looks to me like a Jeroboam of Veuve Clicquot rosé, I would be very surprised if the club charged anywhere near 30K£ for it, even with sky-high mark up. 2/3K£ sounds a lot more likely, still a pricey drop though.

What a complete pretentious dimwit. Hope prison is enjoyable for you and don’t go dropping anything else like the soap in the shower
