London wine merchant launches two-hour Champagne delivery service for Christmas

A London wine shop has partnered with local courier services to launch a two-hour express Champagne delivery service in the run-up to Christmas.

Finest Bubble vows to deliver Champagne to your door within two hours over the Christmas period.

The Finest Bubble, which is based in Islington and was founded by former Kendall Jackson marketing director Nick Baker in 2014, stocks more than 300 bottles of Champagne which can be delivered within two hours.

With individual bottles starting at around £40, fizz-lovers can order their bottle of choice directly from Finest Bubble’s website, and select an estimated time of delivery within two hours of purchase.

The express service follows initiatives by Champagne producers Moët & Chandon and Dom Pérignon, which have both launched express delivery services for their own products within the last two years.

Dom Pérignon launched a one-hour delivery service in the US earlier this year, giving high-end consumers the chance to order a chilled bottle of Champagne directly from the brand’s own website.

And back in 2016, producer Moët & Chandon launched a one-hour delivery service showcasing its “on the rocks” Ice Imperial Champagne in London.

Baker told the drinks business that magnums saw the fastest increase in sales this year, mirroring a boost in sales of magnums across high street retailers and supermarkets in 2017.

In fact, a recent report on consumer food and drinks trends for 2018 carried out by Waitrose predicted that sales of magnums will only continue to rise next year as “premiumisation” continues to pick up speed in the off-trade sector.

Baker added that Finest Bubble’s fastest-ever delivery time was 28 minutes for an office in the City of London.

the drinks business tested the service out for itself. We ordered a bottle of Tattinger Prestige Rosé NV from Finest Bubble (retailing at £59.99), which was processed at 14:00 on Thursday 14 December.

The order reached our building at 16:05 and landed on my desk at 16:10. Finest Bubble went over their delivery time, but only just.
