Gosset unveils blanc de blancs in clear bottle

Champagne Gosset has relaunched its blanc de blancs in a clear glass bottle – a homage to Suzanne Gosset who “pioneered” their use in the region – and introduced a new blanc de noirs cuvée.

The two wines are out this month with the blanc de noirs being available in the UK exclusively at Harvey Nichols until 13 October.

The house explained in a statement that the new packaging for the blanc de blancs was a tribute to Suzanne Gosset (1885-1970) who ran the house following her husband’s death in the 1950s and “pioneered the use of clear bottles for Champagne”.

The clear glass is meant to not only “underline” the “purity and brilliance” of the wine’s colour but also “evoke the mineral quality found on the palate and the wine’s origins in the region’s chalk soil.”

The blanc de noirs meanwhile is produced from 100% Pinot Noir sourced from grand and premier cru vineyards.

Aged for nine years on its lees the wine did not go through malolactic fermentation and has a dosage of just 5g/l.

Gosset cellarmaster, Odilon de Varine, commented: “I am proud of this limited-edition cuvée, which expresses the finesse and elegance of Pinot Noir, used in our other Gosset wines. We are delighted to share this unique wine with all our fellow champagne connoisseurs, followers and friends.”
