Make your own Prosecco kit launched

Prosecco fans keen to get their fix at home can do so now with the launch of a DIY Prosecco kit that allows you to recreate the Italian sparkler in your kitchen.

Priced at £19.99, Mysecco kits come with sugar and yeast sachets. All you need to do is pour warm water into the glass bottle then add the sugar and yeast.

You then need to leave the bottle for 12 days with the plastic cap on, after which time you need to flip the bottle upside down and leave it that way for 24 hours.

The next step is to add the ‘fizz tablets’ provided to produce the bubbles and then seal the bottle with a cork and muselet and chill it for a day.

The kits, made by Victor’s Drinks, have gone on sale at Argos and with Amazon.

According to its creators, the kits produce a “beautifully fresh and crisp sparkling wine with delicate citrus notes”.

The fizz should be drunk within three days to enjoy it at its best.

But while it sounds like a fun idea, if the kits only make one bottle of “Prosecco”, then £19.99 is a high price to pay for a fizz with an average retail price in the UK of around £9.
