Nomacorc and Tasted 100% Blind announce Vinexpo masterclasses

Nomacorc and Tasted 100% Blind have announced that they will host four masterclasses at this year’s Vinexpo led by Andreas Larsson, winner of Best Sommelier of the World in 2007.

Andreas Larsson will present the four masterclasses, entitled ‘Taste the Difference’ featuring the same wine, bottled on the same date and under the same conditions, using three different types of Nomacorc Select Green wine closures. Each closure has different levels of oxygen permeability.

The masterclasses aim to prove to attendees, not that one closure is better than the other, but rather that a small change in the closure ‘can have a big impact on taste.’

Commenting on the masterclasses, Stéphane Vidal, vice president Enology & Wine Quality Solutions at Nomacorc | Vinventions, said: “The main message of the Taste the Difference masterclasses is to show the proof in the glass. We can tell nice stories about the impact of the closures on the wine, but at the end of the day, for the consumer what really counts is the wine in the glass.”

“Typically, with white wines, after three months the tasters can already see differences”.

Larsson added: “I was really surprised when I did my first Taste the Difference. I was really impressed by the differences I could taste between the three glasses.”

It is like they are three different wines. Then, the winemaker has to choose his preference in function of the purpose he wants to give to his wines: shelf life, aromas etc”.

NomaCorc’s Select Green closures are made using renewable, plant-based materials derived from sugarcane. The corks come in three different oxygen permeability levels: Select Green 100, 300 and 500.

The masterclasses will be held on 18, 19, 20 and 21 June from 2:30pm–3:30pm in Hall 1, CD Booth 339. To register or for more information, please click here.
