‘Pawsecco’ for cats and dogs released

Your furry friends need never feel left out at mealtimes again as Pawsecco – a herbal ‘wine’ for cats and dogs – has gone on sale in the UK.

Created by pet drinks specialists Woof & Brew, Pawsecco is a non-alcoholic, non-carbonated ‘wine’ created with the advice of veterinary experts from natural herbs.

Available in both ‘Pet-House White’ and ‘Pet-House Rosé’, the still wine is an infusion of elderflower, nettle, ginseng and lime flower.

It doesn’t contain grapes. According to its makers, the wine, which can be poured over food or served as a drink, offers “an elaborate, stylish treat” for your four-legged friends.

Woof & Brew launched Pawsecco at Crufts and was tasted live on Channel 4 with presenter Clare Balding.

Pawsecco scooped Gold this month at PATS Sandown trade show, winning best new product in gifting, which has led to listings at major retail chains.

Woof & Brew is formed of Steve Bennett and Lisa Morton. Among their other pet friendly libations is a herbal tea for dogs and a range of tea tonics. The pair has also had success with Bottom Sniffer, a non-alcoholic beer for dogs.

This isn’t the first wine for pets to launch. Back in 2013 Japanese pet food maker B&H Lives launched a wine for cats called Nyan Nyan Nouveau (“Meow Nouveau”).

The non-alcoholic ‘wine’ was made with the juice of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and contained traces of catnip and vitamin C.

Last June a non-alcoholic wine for cats went on sale in America. Created by a Denver-based entrepreneur, Pinot Meow and MosCATo, are made with organic catnip and water and coloured with organic red and golden beet juice.
