Santa Rita named Winery of the Year

Viña Santa Rita has been named the 2016 Winery of the Year by the Chilean wine industry’s trade association.

Presenting the award, the brand was praised as an ambassador for Chilean wine on the international stage by the chairman of Wines of Chile, Mario Pablo Silva.

Mr Silva, whose organisation represents more than 90 wineries, also applauded Santa Rita’s continued commitment to sustainability, having been awarded ‘Ethical Company of the Year’ at the db Green Awards 2015.

“Our goal every day is to see that more people – not only in Chile, but around the world – have a glass of Chilean wine on their dinner tables,” said Andrés Lavados, Viña Santa Rita CEO.

“We want to grow our brand and be a benchmark for Chilean wines around the world, but we want that growth to be based on efficiency, sustainability and innovation that is built upon experience and tradition,” he added.

The award caps a successful year for the winery, following its 2012 Casa Real vintage being awarded the title of ‘Master’ in the db Cabernet Sauvignon Masters 2016.

Established in 1880, Santa Rita is one of the oldest estates in Chile. Brands under the Santa Rita label include 120, Medalla Real and Floresta.
