Belly button beer brewed

A beer brewed using yeast grown from belly button fluff is the latest gag-inducing gimmick to emerge from the craft beer craze.

Australian brewery 7 Cent is behind the new brew that takes the phrase “beer belly” quite literally.

Its new Belly Button Beer is made using a strain of yeast grown from the fluff found on the stomach of one of its creators.

The dodgy brew is the latest in several disturbing drinks launched lately.

Last month saw the release of a beer made using bacteria found in a Czech model’s vagina.

Brewers at 7 Cent swabbed their belly buttons and grew unique strains of yeast from each sample.

These yeasts were then used to make several different belly brews, from which the best was selected.

The addition of hops and other flavourings has resulted in a beer that is “in the style of a new world-ish Belgian-ish Witbier” according to its makers, with “the key characteristics being spiciness, clove and light banana esters.”

However, as 7 Cent even acknowledges, the use of belly button fluff to source the yeast is little more than a gross gimmick.

“Once you get used to the idea that yeast is yeast no matter where you get it from and that the water we drink is really recycled dinosaur urine, then you can just sit back and enjoy the beer…..in theory”, it said on its website.
