More than 1,000 exhibitors keen to break into Asia Pacific markets will descend on Hong Kong in May for the 7th edition of Vinexpo Hong Kong, set to take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Held every two years, Vinexpo Hong Kong is set to take place on from 24 to 26 May 2016 and will bring together producers from around aiming at strengthening their presence in the growing Asia Pacific markets. Around 1,300 exhibitors from more than 35 countries will exhibiting at the fair, presenting an unprecedented selection of wines and spirits to industry professionals.

This year all exhibitors will have access to the One to Wine Meetings service to match them with business opportunities. Tried and tested at Vinexpo Bordeaux, this free service offers scheduled, targeted appointments helping visitors and exhibitors make the most of their time at the fair.

“We are delighted to stand alongside our trade colleagues as they expand their business across Asia and to give these wine and spirits producers the benefit of our combined knowledge,” said Guillaume Deglise, CEO at Vinexpo.

One of the largest trade fairs in Asia, Vinexpo Hong Kong offers a unique insight into trends and developments across all Asian markets. According to Vinexpo, France remains the number one wine supplier to Asian countries with 27.24 million cases imported in 2014. Consequently, France will enjoy a strong presence at the show, occupying 43% of the total exhibition area. Stands showcasing French spirits such as Cognac and Armagnac will also be present.

Italy will be this year’s “guest of honour” – a region that hold of the title of the world’s biggest exporter – but which counts Asia as only its fifth biggest market. Visitors will be able to meet Italian wine producers, sample a vast range of Italian wines and explore the country’s indigenous grape varieties.

As New World wines steadily increase their market share in Asia, 2016 will mark their biggest presence at Vinexpo Hong Kong to date. The major Californian, Australian and South American brands will appear alongside rising stars from New York, Oregon, Washington State and New Zealand.

China, the world’s 8th biggest producer, will be showcasing a selection of its wines destined for the export market. New exhibitor countries such as Bulgaria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Mauritius will take their places for the first time. Vinexpo Hong Kong 2016 will also welcome back exhibitors such as the Louis Roederer group.

Ahead of the main event in May, Vinexpo will host a series of talks in partnership with the IWSR, presenting analysis of Asia’s markets that will offer an overview of the wines and spirits market, itemised by country and product type. A keynote talk on the results of this research in China, Australia and Italy will take place at Vinexpo Hong Kong 2016.

Vinexpo Tokyo, a niche show aimed specifically at the Japanese market, will also take place this year on 15 and 16 November.
