Mandarin Oriental group claims ‘most Michelin stars’

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced it now boasts 16 Michelin stars across 11 restaurants in its portfolio – more than any other hotel chain.

The release of the 2016 Michelin Guide has also revealed that Italian and French fusion restaurant, Seta in the newly-opened Mandarin Oriental in Milan has been awarded its first Michelin star four months after its opening.

Hong Kong upholds most of the stars across its restaurants with Pierre retaining its two stars, and the Mandarin Grill + Bar and the Man Wah maintaining their one stars respectively. Amber restaurant in the Landmark Mandarin Oriental also keeps its one star.

Elsewhere in Asia, the Mandarin Oriental in Tokyo holds a one star for each of its three restaurants, Signature, Sense and Tapas Molecular Bar.

Moments in the Barcelona Mandarin Oriental and Dinner in Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London headed up by Heston Blumenthal and Ashley Palmer-Watts also defended their two star status.

Sur Mesure restaurant in Paris’ Mandarin Oriental  is currently the bearer of two stars from the 2015 Michelin Guide ahead of the 2016 Michelin Guide France’s release date which will be in April this year.

“We are truly delighted to once again receive these prestigious accolades, and are particularly honoured that Seta at Mandarin Oriental, Milan has been awarded a Michelin star after just four months of operation,” said David Nicholls, the group’s corporate director of food and beverage.

“It reflects the dedication to fine dining excellence that Mandarin Oriental hotels offer around the world.”
